Mike Macrie, CIO, Land O'Lakes

About 18 months ago, Land O’ Lakes formally adopted a SaaS (Software as a Service) preference in all of its software evaluations as we focused on moving many of our legacy platforms to the cloud and are actively taking advantage of the flexibility and cost advantages that the cloud has to offer.

Food manufacturers are in a much better position than other industries to become early adopters of cloud technologies.

“Mobile, social, and digital marketing technologies will continue to have a dramatic impact on how consumers gain exposure to food products”

Implementation of Procedures to meet Challenging Requirements Some of the challenges we expect to face over the next few years are implementing the necessary processes, procedures and systems to meet ever-changing and increasing requirements in the areas of sustainability and compliance with the Food Modernization Safety Act. These are areas where the expectations are continually changing, and there isn’t a simple solution to meeting all of the needs of the marketplace. Mobile and Social Marketing to help Consumers take Decisions We have implemented a number of programs to foster innovation and pilot cutting-edge technologies throughout our organization. We believe that mobile, social, and digital marketing technologies all have and will continue to have a dramatic impact on how consumers gain exposure to food products, form opinions about those products, and then make their buying decision. Being able to fully interact and take advantage of these mediums will be critical to our future success.
